SyNERGY MED 2026: Global Experts Gather in Istanbul to Accelerate the Mediterranean Energy Transition
The 4th International Conference on Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Area aims to address the wide-ranging technological, policy, and societal transformations driving the global shift toward sustainable energy. Central themes include renewable energy, smart grid technologies, grid integration, low-carbon buildings and energy communities, energy policy, cybersecurity, and the social aspects of energy transitions. While the conference maintains a strong regional focus on the Mediterranean—acknowledging its unique energy challenges and opportunities—it also welcomes global contributions. Researchers, experts, and practitioners from around the world are invited to share their knowledge, exchange best practices, and explore solutions with broader relevance to energy systems facing similar transitions across different geographies.
SyNERGY MED 2026 will serve as a key platform for addressing energy challenges in the Mediterranean, while fostering a globally engaged, solution-oriented dialogue. It will bring together a diverse community of stakeholders including researchers, policymakers, regional and local authorities, renewable energy clusters, and industry representatives.
The 2026 edition of the Conference is being organised by Kadir Has University, Istanbul, Türkiye with the support of the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Western Macedonia, and the University of Cagliari. As in previous years, the Conference is benefitting from the technical sponsorship of the IEEE Power & Energy Society and is further enhanced by special issues in leading journals such as Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy Grids and Network
